Thousands of nursing students applied for this exam last year. They are still waiting. The exam was supposed to happen in November 2025. It did not. Now it is 2026 and a new date is expected soon. Here is everything you need to know.
The Official Update From KGMU
KGMU released an official notice recently. It is for the Multiple Post Recruitment Exam 2025. The notice is on the website. It confirms exam dates and cities.
The exam date mentioned is April 3, 2026. The exam cities are Kanpur and Lucknow only.

Is This Exam for Nursing Officers?
No. This is important. The April 3 exam is not for Nursing Officers. It is for other posts. These posts are listed below.

- Technician (Radiotherapy) Level-6
- Medical Lab Technologist (Lab) Level-6
- Jr. Medical Lab Technologist (Lab) Level-5
- Technician (Nuclear Medicine) Level-5
- Technician Gr.2 (Dental) Level-4
- Medical Social Service Officer Gr.2 Level-6
- Receptionist Level-4
- Assistant Security Officer Level-8
The Nursing Officer exam date is still not announced. It is a separate exam. It will happen sometime after April 3, 2026.
So When Will the Nursing Officer Exam Happen?
No confirmed date yet. Some platforms expect it in late April or May 2026. Nothing is official from KGMU directly. Keep checking the website every few days.

733 seats are open. 626 are general seats. 107 are backlog seats. These are all for the Nursing Officer post (Sister Grade-II).
Who Can Appear in This Exam?
You needed to apply before May 31, 2025. If you applied then, your application is still valid. You do not need to apply again.
To be eligible you need one of these qualifications. B.Sc. Nursing or B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing from an INC recognized college. Or a GNM diploma from an INC recognized institute. GNM candidates also need 2 years of work experience in a hospital with at least 50 beds. You also need to be registered as a Nurse and Midwife with the State or Indian Nursing Council.
Age limit is 18 to 40 years as of January 1, 2025. Reserved category candidates get age relaxation as per UP government rules.
How the Exam Works
100 questions. 100 marks. 2 hours to finish. The exam is online. It is called a Computer Based Test or CBT. Questions are in both English and Hindi.
Right answer gets 1 mark. Wrong answer loses 1/3 mark. So think before you answer. Do not guess randomly.
There are 5 subjects in the exam. Nursing has the most questions. Focus on that first.

How Much Do You Need to Score to Pass?
General, OBC and EWS candidates need 50% marks. SC and ST candidates need 45% marks.
Is There an Interview?
No. There is no interview at all. Your exam score decides everything. After that comes document verification. If your documents are fine you get selected.
What Is the Salary?
The salary is between Rs. 44,900 and Rs. 1,42,400 per month. This is a Level 7 government pay scale. You also get extra allowances like DA, HRA and transport allowance on top of this.
What to Do on Exam Day
Reach the exam center at least 1 hour early. Carry a printed copy of your admit card. Also carry a valid photo ID. Aadhaar card, voter ID or driving licence works. Do not bring a mobile phone or smartwatch inside. Calculators are also not allowed.

Is the April 3 exam for Nursing Officers?
No. That exam is for technical and other posts. Nursing Officer exam is separate.
I applied in May 2025. Do I need to apply again?
No. Your application is still valid. Just wait for the admit card.
Where do I download the admit card?
Go to the website. Log in with your registration number and date of birth.
Will the exam cities be Kanpur and Lucknow for Nursing Officers too?
The April 3 notice mentions Kanpur and Lucknow. The Nursing Officer exam cities will be on the admit card when it comes out.
Is there any interview?
No. Just the written exam and document check.
I missed the 2025 form. Can I apply now?
No. The form closed on May 31, 2025. Wait for the next recruitment cycle. It may come in 2027.
What documents do I bring on exam day?
Printed admit card and a valid photo ID. That is it. No phone, no calculator, no smartwatch inside the exam hall.
When will the result come?
KGMU will announce it on kgmu.org after the exam. No fixed date yet.
What If You Missed the 2025 Application?
Maybe you did not apply last year. That is okay. The form is closed now. You cannot apply for this batch.
But KGMU releases new recruitment every year or two. A new notification for 2027 may come. When it does apply as soon as the form opens. Do not wait for the last day.
Till then keep studying. Do not stop just because you missed this cycle. Use this time to get stronger at nursing subjects. Practice mock tests. Work on your weak areas.
When the 2027 notification comes you will be ready. The exam pattern will likely be the same. 100 questions. 120 minutes. Nursing carries the most marks. Negative marking applies.
