Before You Start
You need a phone or computer with internet. The whole process takes only 5-10 minutes. Follow each step carefully.
Open Your Browser
Open any browser on your phone or computer. Type this: ors.gov.in/orsportal/
Press enter or go button.
Make Your Account First Time
If this is your first time you need to make an account. Look for a button that says Login or Register. Click on it.
Now you see two choices:
Choice 1 – Use Mobile Number
- Type your 10 digit mobile number
- Click on send OTP button
- Wait few seconds
- You will get a message on your phone with a code
- Type that code on the website
- Now you are logged in
Choice 2 – Use ABHA Health Card
- If you have ABHA health card you can use that
- Click on create ABHA ID button
- Fill all the details they ask
- Complete the process
- Then use it to login

Add Family Members (If You Want)
After you login you can add your family members. You can add up to 6 people under one mobile number.
Why do this? Because then you can book for your mother or father or children also. You don’t need different accounts for everyone.
To add family member:
- Look for add family member option
- Click on it
- Fill their name and age and gender
- Save it
You can skip this step if you want to book only for yourself.
Now Book the Appointment
Look for a button that says Book Appointment. Click on it.
You will see two options:

Fill in the patient’s full name, age, and gender. Write your problem clearly. Check everything again, then click Confirm.

Confirmation Message
You will get an SMS with your date, time, and a special code. Show this at the hospital.

Look for a counter that says “Online Appointment” or “ORS Appointment”. This counter has less people. This line is faster.
- Show your message or printed slip to the person at the counter.
- They will check your details on the computer.
- Then you pay โน50 registration fee. They give you a receipt and a token number.

This tells you when it is your turn. Keep this token safe with you.

Where to Wait
Go to the waiting area of your department. Look at the screen or listen for announcements. They will call your token number. When your number comes, go inside to see the doctor.

How can I book without internet or smartphone?
You can go to any cyber cafe. They will help you book for โน20-30 rupees. You can also use any computer with internet – laptop or desktop at home or cyber cafe.
Or ask a friend or neighbor who has a smartphone to help you. If you don’t have any device, you can go directly to the hospital and get an appointment in person.
What are the total fees I need to pay?
Registration fee is โน50 at the counter. Consultation fee depends on the doctor – some are free, some charge โน100 to โน200 maximum.
If you are very poor you can apply for a free treatment card.
Can I book for my family members?
Yes. You can book for your parents, children, or anyone. Just add them as family members in your account first. You need their basic details like name and age. You don’t need their phone number separately.
Will I get appointment on my preferred date?
Not always. If slots are full, you have to pick a different date. Popular departments like cardiology and orthopedics fill up fast. Book at least 2-3 days in advance. Same day appointments are rarely available.
What if I’m early or late for my appointment?
If early: You can reach the hospital earlier but doctors call patients by token number and time slot. Come 15-30 minutes before your time.
If late: If you are very late your appointment may get cancelled. Usually they allow 30 minutes delay.
What should I bring for registration?
Bring your phone with confirmation message and any ID card (Aadhar card, voter card, or driving license). If you have old prescriptions or medical reports, bring them also.
How do I cancel or reschedule my appointment?
Login to ors.gov.in with your mobile number. Go to your appointments and click on cancel or reschedule. Pick a new date and confirm.
Can I get video consultation instead of visiting?
Yes. KGMU has telemedicine. When you book, select “Remote Consultation”. The doctor will call you on video at your appointment time.
What happens in an emergency?
For emergencies don’t book online. Go straight to the emergency department. It’s open 24 hours every day.
Emergency conditions:
- Severe chest pain or difficulty breathing
- Heavy bleeding or unconsciousness
- Severe accident or very high fever
Is the online booking safe?
Yes. This is an official government portal. Don’t share your OTP code with anyone. Use any modern browser like Chrome or Safari.
